One thing about living in the Washington DC metro area – traffic SUCKS! And it seems to be getting just a little bit worse each year. I stumbled across a few really good travel podcasts that keep me entertained on my commutes that I wanted to share with you.
1. Abroaders
Erik and AJ are the hosts of the ‘abroaders‘ pocast which started back in 2013 and has a new episode each week. They are currently at episode 214.
These guys focus a lot of redeeming miles for award tickets to get the best value from your miles and points along with reporting on the latest news and hot credit card offers.
Last week’s episode included the following topics:
- Delta Award Flash Sale: Hawaii RT from 35k Main Cabin / 44k Delta Comfort+
- Southwest Business Card Bonus Bumped To 60K [Plus A New Rule]
- You Might Be Targeted For An Amex Platinum 100K Welcome Bonus
- Delta SkyMiles Lowers Partner Award Costs To Europe!
- United Is Phasing Out International First Class As Of June 20, 2018
- Cheat Sheet: The Secret United Polaris Menu
- An Amex Offer Everyone Should Take Advantage Of (If Targeted)
- Up to 5K bonus Membership Rewards points w/ Amex Express Checkout
I like how they also end each episode – each week they play a song by a different international artist. There is a full range of songs week to week.
I wish I would have found this podcast sooner – it’s my favorite of the 3 podcasts.
2. Miles to Go
Miles to Go is the newest of the 3 and just started last month. Ed Pizza, blogger at Pizza In Motion, is the host. Ed’s podcast are usually about 45 minutes log and feature different segments.
Last week’s episode featured 3 different guests – Spencer Howard from Straight to the Points talked about earning and burning rewards with credit cards.
Ed also had Summer Hull from Mommy Points to share all of her experiences and tips for surviving TSA with kids.
Finally he wrapped up the episode with Joe Cheung from As the Joe Flies & his new podcast, Disney Deciphered talking about how to use credit card points for Disney tickets and whether or not the Disney Dining Plan is worth it!
Previous episode’s featured Jen from Deals We Like with a segment called ‘big deal of the week’.
Ed always ends his episodes with his ‘Final Two Pennies’ which bring a down to earth
3. Saverocity Observation Deck
Saverocity Obsveration Deck has been around since 2015 and is currently on their 79th episode with a new episode every 2 weeks. Joe Cheung (blogger at as the joe flies) and Trevor (blogger at Tagging Miles) are your hosts.
I also really enjoy this podcast – they feature so many different guests (Becky Pokora of sightDOING; Sam from Milenomics; Noah from Money Metagame; Shawn Coomer from Miles to Memories; etc). Every other week topics include different destinations, ways to earn miles & points (reselling, etc), and more.
Last week’s episode featured Matt Hague (Saverocity) who discussed hacking Las Vegas with his M Life status, crusing and saving money on excursions, how he dealt with a cancelled flight and a South African trip which included lots of wine.
Which travel podcasts did I miss that you love?
Thanks for installing the Bottom of every post plugin by Corey Salzano. Contact me if you need custom WordPress plugins or website design.
You missed Dots Lines and Destinations, Layovers and Modhop. These all touch on points and miles but all are solid airline and travel podcasts. I also love the RV Navigator and I don’t even own an RV. Others good ones are Extra Pack of Peanuts, This week in Travel and of course Rick Steve’s Travel with Rick Steve’s for Europe travel topics.
Another new podcast is Points and Miles Podcast from MillionMileGuy. Interviews with great white shark free-divers, points people, and stories about general travel. It’s on iTunes, https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/points-and-miles-podcast/id1243241231?mt=2
