I’m not entirely sure how I was able to pull this off, but I was able to get my wife upgraded from Hyatt Discoverist to Explorist until 2020 for free – let me show you the steps so you can try too.
1.) Discoverist Status
First, my wife became a Hyatt Discoverist just from having the Chase Hyatt Visa credit card. If you don’t have it – get it! It’s well worth the $75 annual fee to get a free night at any category 1-4. I typically use it at this $500/night Hyatt at the beach.
2.) Mlife Pearl Match
Next since we were headed to Las Vegas and staying at MGM’s Aria resort, I went to Hyatt’s website to match my wife’s Discoverist status to Mlife Pearl so she could earn some extra Hyatt points along with Mlife credits. It was simple to do, after logging into your Hyatt account and Mlife accounts in separate windows, just head to this website and click on the ‘Opt In’ button to become Mlife Pearl.
3.) Explorist Match
Just like like you can match Hyatt to Mlife, you can also match your Mlife status to Hyatt at MGM’s website. Now I am currently Mlife Platinum status and wanted to increase my Hyatt Discoverist Status to Exporist so after logging into both of my Hyatt and Mlife accounts, I headed to this website and clicked on the ‘CLICK HERE TO OPT IN’ button. I was instantly upgraded from Discoverist to Explorist.
Here is the interesting part, just for giggles I opened an incognito browser, logged my wife into both her Hyatt and Mlife (Pearl status) accounts and hit the ‘CLICK HERE TO OPT IN’ button on MGM’s website and guess what happened!?!?! She was also matched to a Hyatt Explorist status like I was. Now she’ll also get 4 club lounge passes along with 20% bonus points.
And better yet, after logging into her Hyatt account it shows that her Explorist status is good through February 2020!
4.) Mlife Gold Match
Then a few days later, I went to Hyatt’s MGM matching website again, and got her upgraded to Mlife Gold! Now she gets to skip the taxi and buffet lines at MGM resorts and free access to clubs and pool parties!
You aren’t supposed to be able to match Mlife Pearl status to Hyatt Explorist but somehow I was able to – I’m happy I was able to find this glitch and even more excited it’s good until 2020! Looks like I have book another trip back to Baha Mar and get access to the amazing club lounge there!
So go ahead and give it shot to see if you get upgraded – please leave your data points in the comments section below.

Wow, this is pretty cool. If it works, I’m definitely using your link to sign up my spouse for the card as well.
Unfortunately it is not working for me. Earlier this year I matched my wife to pearl status at MGM. SHe has Hyatt CC. When I am logging into MGM resorts website it is not showing Hyatt as a preferred partner. So there is no way to opt in. May be I am missing something?
I found the link but it says that accounts have been matched already. So she is still Discoverist at Hyatt:)
I thinking it might have to do with me matching to Explorist with my mlife Platinum status immediately before trying hers.
Didn’t work for me.
